GREAT knife

This is an excellent knife. It is great for hunting and camping, I carry it everyday. I chose this knife over the Seal Pup because I like a little extra length ans this has the extended tang. I first used this knife to cut up a roadkill deer for bobcat bait and the edge is still perfect. Very tough edge, you can skin and elk and it’ll still be sharp enough to cape out it’s head. The ONLY thing I didn’t like is the sheath, it’s a good sheath but it takes a little super glue to keep it from fraying in certain spots. Great knife for a variety of uses, especially for the price!

Update (2/5/2012): This item is currently on sale here for the lowest price I’ve seen.

Product is as pictured.
This knife is in Taiwan for those who are interested in, done. It is very sharp. It does not show any defects in workmanship. The Zytel handle is a very, very hard material. If I were to change something about this knife, it would be to handle the softer of a material for a more secure fit than with the bare hand. It is a good all-purpose knife for hard use in the field (or the back of pick-up). I find it hard to believe that this knife would actually be (used because of its size and weight) by military personnel. On the other hand, if I were patrolling enemy territory or use of survival strategies, I would probably appreciate more of this product.

Sincerely Yours

Good combat and survival knife, just can’t hold edge too well
I bought this knife for a Alaska back country camping trip as a survival gear. Here are the pros and cons after I used it in the back country for a month.

Pros:
(1)Out of box sharp
(2)Reliable. It’s heavy and well balanced. Nobody want to carry extra weight in a prolonged camping trip. So I carry only one survival knife. This is it.
(3)Though its significant length, due to its stealth design, it’s not very “flashy”.
(4)its nylon sheath is well thought out actually. I was able to carry this knife on my backpack, on my belt, or attached to my jacket.

Now the cons:
(1)Heavy and long. It’s good to have a heavy and extra long blade when you use it. It’s a burden to carry, if it is in the sheath.
(2)My biggest complaint is that it can’t hold an edge too well. After minimum use, it already lost its factory sharpness. And I do mean “minimum” — just by slicing copy paper, packaging plastic, cardboard, or those common household soft materials. It’s still sharp, just not as sharp as its factory sharp.

Overall, despite its less than ideal edge holding capability, it’s still my go-to knife when it comes to back country survival. Hence the four star rating.
